2 oz. brown butter bourbon (instructions in notes)
Dissolve your sweetener and water to lowball glass and stir with bar spoon. Place ice cube in glass. Add bitters and brown butter bourbon. Garnish with orange peel or cherry. Serve with bar spoon in glass.
First you have to make your brown butter bourbon though. But it's easy. Follow these steps:
1. Cook one stick of butter in a sauce pan over medium heat for about 10 minutes or until brown. Stir frequently. Lower heat if needed to avoid burning. The end result should smell like nutty caramel.
2. Let cool. Pour 16 oz. of bourbon into a mason jar. Pour brown butter on top. Shake vigorously to combine.
3. Refrigerate for at least one day. Then skim off the fat that rises to the top. Strain through cheesecloth to remove any extra fat particles.
