Keto Crab Pretzels

Yield: Makes 3 large pretzels, 4-5 medium pretzels, or 6-8 smaller pretzels

Keto Crab Pretzels

It is basically crab dip on top of a soft pretzel, sprinkled with cheese and old bay, and baked. It is hot and gooey and delicious.

ingredients:

For the Pretzels
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 2 teaspoons xanthan gum
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons dried yeast, mixed in 2 tablespoons warm water and set aside for a few minutes
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • Pretzel salt for sprinkling (or coarse sea salt)
For the Crab Dip
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayo
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus more for sprinkling on top)
  • 8 oz. crab meat (lumpy is preferred)

instructions:

For the Pretzels
  1. Heat oven to 350. Put mozzarella and cream cheese in microwave safe bowl and microwave for about 2 minutes at 30 second intervals, until cheese is melted. Ensure that no more cheese shreds are visible.
  2. Put your dough hook on your stand mixer. Mix almond flour and xanthan gum. Add in eggs, yeast mix, and 2 tablespoons of your melted butter. Then add your cheese mix. Allow the mixer to knead the dough for about 10 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl if necessary.
  3. Roll your dough into pretzels shapes on parchment paper. It helps to tape down your parchment to the counter. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle coarse salt on top. Place on parchment lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned all over.
For the Crab Dip
  1. Mix cream cheese, sour cream, mayo, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, Old Bay, and cheese in medium bowl. Gently fold in crab meat, being careful to not break apart the lumps.
  2. Place on top of cooked soft pretzels. Sprinkle additional shredded cheddar on top. Sprinkle more Old Bay on top. Bake at 350 until hot and gooey, about 5-10 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley.
