These Chinese Beef Kabobs are a little sweet, a little spicy, and super savory. They are marinated, skewered with red onion and grilled, and then basted with a Chinese barbeque sauce. Perfect for a casual dinner or backyard barbeque.

ingredients:

FOR THE MARINADE
  • 1.5 lbs. beef sirloin, cut into roughly 1.5" cubes
  • 1 red onion, cut into large pieces and layers separated
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons coconut aminos
FOR THE SAUCE
  • 2 tablespoons sugar-free barbeque sauce
  • 2 teaspoons coconut aminos
  • 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

instructions:

FOR THE MARINADE
  1. Mix vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, sriracha, and aminos in shallow baking dish.  Add in beef and stir to coat.  Cover with plastic wrap and let it refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  2. When done marinating, heat grill to high heat.  Soak 12 skewers in water for 15 minutes.  Skewer 6 onion layers and 6 beef cubes on each skewer.  Grill on each side and remove when internal temperature reaches 130 degrees F.
FOR THE SAUCE
  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.  When kabobs are done cooking, use basting brush to brush sauce onto each skewer on all sides.
  2. Garnish with chopped scallions and toasted sesame seeds.
